During your first appointment, we will take your health history, find out about your diet, stress levels, exercise and sleep patterns, and discuss why you’ve come in. We may order blood work and/or specialty tests as needed. We will also work with you to set up a customized treatment plan.
A first visit with a patient is typically 45 to 60 minutes, and follow-up appointments range from 30 to 45 minutes.
Acupuncture
Acupuncture involves the insertion of extremely thin needles through your skin at strategic points on your body. A key component of traditional Chinese medicine, acupuncture treats a wide range of health conditions, from infertility to anxiety to musculoskeletal pain.
Traditional Chinese medicine explains acupuncture as a technique for balancing the flow of energy or life force—known as qi or chi (CHEE)—believed to flow through pathways (meridians) in your body. By inserting needles into specific points along these meridians, acupuncture practitioners believe that your energy flow will re-balance, bringing about a therapeutic effect.

Acupuncture first office visits last anywhere between 60 and 90 minutes and consist of a detailed interview centered around questions pertinent to Chinese medicine, tongue and pulse diagnosis, and an acupuncture treatment based on your Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) diagnosis.
Follow-up acupuncture visits last approximately 45 minutes. During this time, we will assess your response to the previous treatment and adjust the acupuncture treatment protocol accordingly.
